It is a great challenge (if it is even possible) to clearly define what the Higher Power is and what the community with it is supposed to consist of.
For me, it means contact with unlimited creation, a sense of security and trust.
It is probably equally difficult to imagine that to achieve all this, all you have to do is... paint.
And yet...However, my several years of experience with Vedic Art show that this is exactly what happens.
If I give in and surrender to the process happening within me, over which I basically have little influence, extraordinary things start to happen. Somehow I know what tools, paints, colors to use, the patterns somehow arrange themselves and the joy of creating seems limitless. I can't leave the easel, I can't finish. It is not me who is painting this picture, it is the picture being painted 'through me'.
In this process, I establish this contact with something greater than me. I feel gratitude, joy, the power of creation and the certainty that what is happening, is happening for my good. I can't share this, because it is my most intimate experience. This is my community with the Higher Power. My students and friends who have gone through the Vedic Art process, they all say exactly the same thing. The same experiences of creation, joy, agency and a sense of security and MEANING in life..
A full description of Vedic Art and the possibilities it brings is below. This is a redirect to my personal page with a detailed description of Vedic Art.
Everyone can find their own path to the Higher Power,
I believe that it is impossible to build a true community without the spirit of community, without establishing a connection with the Higher Power, however I understand it. Without this connection, without trusting this power, my life today would not look as wonderful as it does.
Community with Nature is hard to overestimate. There is no point in complaining about the state of Nature today and our attitude towards it as a civilization. Everything has already been said on this subject.
The biggest mistake that is made in defining our relationship is that Nature is distinguished from humans. When we familiarize ourselves with the definition of nature in the Oxford Dictionary, we see something like this:
What is Nature Oxford dictionary?
the phenomena of the physical world collectively, including plants, animals, landscape and other features and products of the Earth, as opposed to humans.
However, we feel very clearly that there is something wrong with this definition. We feel a very strong connection with Nature, all you have to do is go to the forest. I love the forest, we are delighted with the views of mountains, rivers, canyons and the aurora borealis. Nature is in us and we are in it.
My hand is not me but it is not a separate entity by itself. Likewise, I, a human, do not exist in separation from Nature. I do not constitute a separate entity.
Treating Nature as an 'element' that man should control is probably the greatest crime of our civilization. Not only does such a belief give us the legitimacy to destroy it, but above all it does not allow us to establish a relationship with it - a COMMUNITY, at the deepest level.
Safety, trust, beauty and love - everything is the 'merit' of Nature. Respect and gratitude for its generosity and beauty are the foundation of community for us in the Wholeness of Community. Respecting it does not result from the benefits that we can draw from it or from fear of what will happen when we completely destroy it, but from contemplating its power, beauty and wisdom, from which we are still very, very far away.
Community is a part of society. This is obvious. Both in the sense of community as closeness and connection, and a group of people organized around some idea, place or cause.
The importance of community in society is growing. Both the word community and groups of people who gather around 'something' appear more and more often. The question is, is this a fad? Or maybe a symptom of some deeper, emerging process?
In addition to the meaning of community as closeness or a group of people, community has another meaning. It is a way of self-aggrandizing society. Similar to other systems such as monarchy, tyranny or democracy. In relation to all of these systems, community has colossal advantages and we strongly believe that in the coming years, community will gradually become the dominant way of organizing our civilization.
Our conviction comes primarily from what is one of the cornerstones of integral theory - levels of consciousness. The integral level expresses exactly the same values as the community system - everyone is right.
Of course, today presenting society as a system consisting of various communities seems completely utopian. However, we believe that as a society we simply lack imagination. A world without control, without a 'system', without polarisation or wars seems to be the subject of a sick imagination or total naivety. But the facts are such that this is not completely ruled out. The popularity of communities, women's, men's and mixed circles, the number of developmental festivals, therapies, the growing importance of permaculture, a healthy way of life show a completely different, emerging reality.
A community that has built closeness and trust is a natural source of goodness, kindness and care for Nature and other people. It does not have to be anything special, it does not have to fulfil some extraordinary goal. It is enough that it exists and radiates its natural features outwards. This is the way it changes the society in which it functions, especially the closest one. So its mission is to invite others to itself, to show what it is and what it does. This is its role in society at the moment. And gradually this importance will grow.
Science is proven experience. First we state a thesis, and then we prove it. Knowledge is practice, without a ‘scientific bent’. It is confirmed by repeating the experience or experiences of different people many times.
In our case, the most important knowledge that we follow when building a community is the methodology of building it, formulated by Scott Peck.
Is community with Science possible? Absolutely! Because in certain areas of life, such as health, there is a strong tendency to depart from the standard methods of dealing with diseases adopted in our Western civilization.
It is fashionable to question Science, and although Science will never explain many phenomena, thanks to it, the progress of civilization is improbable. We are not only talking about technology but also about therapies, studies of ancient cultures, history or biology.
In the case of communities, research on indigenous tribes gives us unimaginable knowledge about them, knowledge that we can use to build communities.
Science will not explain everything, but it is an excellent foundation for understanding ourselves, and therefore - for increasing the quality and durability of communities.
Anyone who has ever been to Bert Hellinger's Family Constellations knows that our ancestors are alive in some way. A change in the ancestral configurations, which involves recognizing someone or something that someone did a few generations ago, affects me here and now, today and in this place. However, the most amazing thing about the configurations is that what I do today affects what was, those people who are no longer here.
This shows that the world of the ancestors is somehow connected to us and affects us. If we create a community, then it is part of this community, it is part of the group. And we can communicate with it. In today's festivals and various workshops, the ancient practice of rituals that served this very communication will echo. Today's drumming, workshops on making your own drum, guarding the fire, ritual burning or using substances - all these things serve to establish contact with the ancestors.
We treat the culture and customs of indigenous peoples with great respect, in whom community was a natural way of organizing society. We believe that we can really transfer a lot from these cultures to our modern world.
That is why we have a workshop on rituals dedicated to this in our school.
Community with a place is a topic as enigmatic as community with ancestors.
In today's world, we are used to constantly changing our place of residence, most often in pursuit of work.
Our connection with a place has been limited to logistical or aesthetic issues. To claim that a place has its own spirit or identity is treated in today's world at best with a pinch of salt, at worst - it is the subject of mockery and hate.
But after all, each of us has experienced a deep connection with a place at some point. Whether it is a family home or a place visited during the holidays, it happens that we feel some connection with it that we are unable to explain.
This is because places have their own spirit, we often call this spirit the 'climate' of a place. In architecture, this phenomenon is called 'Genius loci'. Contrary to appearances, we read this spirit of a place quite well. This can be seen, for example, during trips or holidays, where visiting old districts of a city we feel excitement, a different energy or vibration. It is enough to go to a new district of the same city and the spell is broken. Community with a place is part of our identity. It is something much deeper than habit, the influence of memories or simply liking a given place.
A place speaks, it gives us its secrets. Sometimes related to history, sometimes to Nature. But it is clearly alive.
Community with other people is the essence of community. It means connection at the deepest level of humanity. Where there is no fight over worldviews or beliefs. Where our inner, natural goodness comes to the surface. Where we can forgive ourselves and all those who have hurt us. Where hope, security and unconditional trust in another person dominate.
In the process of reaching this state of connection, we observe how close we are to each other and how little it takes to experience this closeness. Loneliness, lack of self-esteem, being unnoticed cease to exist, literally evaporate.
Community building workshops are the place where this takes place. And after the workshops, nothing is the same..
Community of me with me.... This may seem incomprehensible or strange. But it is not.On the way to building community, we encounter obstacles. Some of them are objective events, independent of me, but I create a lot of them myself. Examples?Repeating the same, difficult to accept patterns of behavior towards other people. Projecting my own experiences onto othersUnconscious repetition of opinions that I have absorbed during the process of upbringing and growing up.
Joe Dispenza claims that after the age of 35, about 70% of our behaviors are actions 'on autopilot' - remembered and reproduced reactions over which we have very little controlRepressed emotions and events that create unconscious traumas and reactive, irrational behavior. Lack of self-esteem, feeling of being unimportant, unnoticed, ignored
Each of these features (and often several of them occur at the same time) effectively blocks the possibility of opening up to another person, of trusting them. And this is the basis for building community. That is why our Fullness of Community square could not be without this element. Many of the things mentioned above can be healed during the community building workshop itself, but often, unfortunately, the workshop itself is not enough.
Therapy is needed. Individual therapy sessions will effectively remove the above-mentioned and other obstacles on the way to building community.
WHOLENESS OF COMMUNITY
MEANS ENTIRETY OF RELATIONS WITH:
